The Chapel Royal of the Mohawk
Has been situated on the site of the
Mohawk Village since 17
85. It is the first Chapel Royal of First Nations
people in North America and has a history that extends back to 1710.
The Chapel Royal of the Mohawk is now the only First Nations Chapel in
Canada to have Royal Arms granted by the Crown.
The Grant of Arms is in recognition of the ally relationship between the
Haudenosaunee and the Crown extending back into the 1600s.
Prior to today this Haudenosaunee-Crown relationship has been
embodied in the symbolism of the Silver Covenant Chain created over the
past 400 years of Nation to Nation interaction.
Join us on September 29th at 2PM to witness the history of the relationship between the Royal Crown, and her Six Nations Allies.
All are welcome, no registration required.
